    About this tool

Fake Data Generator makes realistic-looking test data for databases, spreadsheets, demos and app prototypes. Choose from 29 field types — names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, companies, job titles, dates, numbers, UUIDs, IP addresses, colours, sentences and test card numbers — put them in any order, give each column your own name, and generate from 1 to 10,000 rows. Export as JSON, CSV, SQL INSERT statements (with an optional CREATE TABLE) or YAML.

It is built so the data can’t reach a real person. Every email uses example.com, example.org or example.net, domains reserved for documentation that can never receive mail. Phone numbers come from ranges set aside for TV and films where they exist: 07700 900xxx in the UK, 555-01xx in the US and Canada, and the numbers Australia reserves for fiction. Card numbers are the public test numbers payment providers publish, which pass the Luhn check but are never issued.

Locale flavours for the UK, US, Canada, Australia and India change names, cities, postcodes and phone formats. A seed makes the output repeatable, so a teammate typing the same seed gets identical rows.

How to use Fake Data Generator

    1. Set “Rows” (or tap 10, 100, 1,000 or 10,000) and choose a “Locale flavour”.
    2. Pick a starting set under “Fields” — People, Customers, Employees or Test payments — or add fields one at a time with “Add a field”.
    3. Rename columns, change a field’s type, set its options (ranges, formats, “Blank %”), and use the ↑ and ↓ buttons to reorder.
    4. Choose JSON, CSV, SQL or YAML under “Export as”, and switch to “Table” to preview the first 100 rows.
    5. Press “Copy” or “Download”. Keep the seed to get the same data again, or press “New seed” for fresh rows.
    Example

The People set with the UK flavour and the seed test-seed starts with {"id": 1, "full_name": "Jack King", "email": "[email protected]", "phone": "07700 900411", "city": "Liverpool"} — a real-sounding name with an email and number nobody can receive.

    Features

    • 29 field types across person, address, work, numbers and dates, internet and text, including a “Pick from my list” field for your own values.
    • Rows that hang together: the email and username match the name, and the postcode, county or state and phone area match the city.
    • Up to 10,000 rows, generated in a fraction of a second on a laptop.
    • Five locale flavours (UK, US, Canada, Australia, India) with local names, real cities, invented street names and correctly shaped postcodes.
    • Seedable: the same seed, locale and fields always give the same rows, and adding or moving a field doesn’t change the others.
    • “Blank %” on any field leaves that share of values empty (null) for testing missing data.
    • Exports: pretty JSON, RFC 4180 CSV with a header row, SQL INSERT in batches of 500 with an optional CREATE TABLE, and YAML.
    • IP addresses from the documentation ranges (192.0.2.x, 198.51.100.x, 203.0.113.x, 2001:db8::) or private 10.x ranges.
    • Your fields and settings are remembered in this browser for next time.

    Tips and good to know

    • India has no phone range reserved for fiction, so Indian numbers here start with 00000, which can’t be dialled. Use the International style if your validation insists on a +91 prefix.
    • Street names are invented (Juniper Lane, Kestrel Road) but cities are real, so an address could occasionally match a real place by chance. Don’t use the data to send post.
    • The test card numbers are a small set of published values, so they repeat across rows. They are meant for checkout tests in sandbox mode only.
    • For SQL, check the column types in CREATE TABLE: they are guessed from the generated values, and VARCHAR lengths fit only what was made.
    • Dates of birth are worked out from today’s year, so a seed gives slightly different birth dates after New Year.

    Frequently asked questions

Is anything uploaded or stored on a server?

No. All the data is made in your browser. Your field list and settings are saved only in this browser’s own storage, so they are there next time; nothing is sent to AroraTools.

Is it free? Are there limits?

It is free with no sign-up. Each run makes up to 10,000 rows; for more, change the seed and generate again, or start the Row number field where the last batch ended.

Does it work on a phone or offline?

Yes. It works in modern browsers on phones, tablets and computers, and keeps working without a connection once the page has loaded.

Could a generated email or phone number belong to a real person?

No email can: example.com, example.org and example.net are reserved and can’t receive mail. UK, US, Canadian and Australian numbers come from ranges reserved for fiction, and Indian numbers start with 00000, which can’t be dialled. Names are common names, so a real person may share one.

Are the credit card numbers real?

No. They are test numbers published by payment providers such as Stripe. They pass the Luhn check digit test, so card forms accept them in test mode, but they are never issued and can’t pay for anything.

How do I get exactly the same data again?

Use the same seed, locale flavour, fields and row count. The seed box keeps its value between visits, and you can type any word you like as a seed.
