About this tool

A PDF can carry other files inside it, much like an email carries attachments: the spreadsheet behind a report, the original Word file, photos, an invoice’s machine-readable data, or a whole ZIP. Many PDF readers hide them in a side panel, and some phones don’t show them at all. PDF Attachments lists every file stored in a PDF and lets you work with them.

Open a PDF and you see each embedded file with its name, size, description and the date it was last changed. Files pinned to a page as a paper-clip note are listed too, with their page number. You can preview pictures, text files and PDFs right in the page, save any file exactly as it was stored, or save them all at once as a ZIP.

You can also attach your own files. Pick any file, add an optional description, and save: the new PDF carries it in its attachments list, where Acrobat, Preview and other readers will show it. Removing a file takes it out of the PDF for real, not just out of the list. After saving, the tool reads the new PDF back and checks every added file byte for byte. Nothing is uploaded; it all happens in your browser.

How to use PDF Attachments

  1. Tap “Choose a PDF” and pick your file. Its pages open in a large page view and its attachments appear in a list beside them; a file pinned to a page links to that page.
  2. Use “Preview” to look inside a file, “Save” to download one, or “Download all (ZIP)” for every file.
  3. To attach files, tap “Add files”, pick one or more, and type a description if you like.
  4. To take a file out, tap “Remove” on its row (“Keep” changes your mind).
  5. Press “Save PDF”, then “Download PDF”.
Example

A quote saved as quote.pdf: add costs.xlsx with the description “Working spreadsheet”, remove an old draft.docx, press “Save PDF”. The result reads “Saved · 1 file inside · 1 added · 1 removed · checked by reading the new PDF back”.

Features

  • Lists files in the PDF’s attachments list and files pinned to pages.
  • Shows name, size, description, changed date and page.
  • Previews pictures (PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, SVG), text files (TXT, CSV, JSON, XML, Markdown and more) and the first page of attached PDFs.
  • Saves each file exactly as stored, or all of them as one ZIP.
  • Attaches any type of file, several at once, each with its own description.
  • Keeps names unique: a second “data.csv” is stored as “data (2).csv”.
  • Removed files are deleted from the PDF itself, not just hidden.
  • Checks the saved PDF: every new file must read back identical.

Tips and good to know

  • Attachments stay inside the PDF when you email or upload it, so check what’s in there before sharing. Sanitise PDF removes every attachment in one go along with other hidden data.
  • Previews show text and pictures only: scripts in an attached web page or SVG never run here.
  • A password-protected PDF can’t be read. Unlock it first, then protect the new copy again.
  • Attaching files makes the PDF bigger by about the size of those files, since they’re stored compressed.
  • Some upload portals reject PDFs with attachments. Remove them here if a form refuses your file.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your PDF and any files you attach are read and saved by your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to AroraTools or anyone else.

Is it free? Is there a size limit?

Yes, it’s free with no sign-up or watermark. There’s no set limit; very large files are limited by your device’s memory.

Does it work on iPhone, Android and offline?

Yes, in Safari or Chrome on a phone. The page needs the internet to load, then everything runs on your phone.

Where do attachments show up in a PDF reader?

In the attachments or paper-clip panel: in Acrobat Reader under the paper-clip icon, in Preview on a Mac in the sidebar. Files pinned to a page also show as a small icon on that page.

Will saving change the pages of my PDF?

No. Pages, text, links and form fields stay as they are. Only the attachments list changes, plus a note in the file’s properties saying which tool saved it.

Why does an attachment say it can’t be unpacked?

Its data is damaged or packed in a way browsers can’t open. You can still remove it, and Repair PDF may help if the whole file is damaged.
