About this tool

Someone sent you a deck as a PDF and you need to present it, add a slide or fix a typo. This tool rebuilds the PDF as a PowerPoint file, one slide per page, that opens in PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides and LibreOffice Impress.

You choose what goes on each slide, and the tool is upfront about what each choice means. Picture + editable text puts the page’s pictures, shapes and backgrounds on the slide as one image with the words taken off it, then lays the words back on top in text boxes you can edit, each line where it was, in the same size, weight and colour. Picture only gives an exact copy of every page: nothing to edit, but nothing can shift. Editable text only gives just the words on blank slides, the smallest file to start a new design from.

The slide size follows your PDF: a 16:9 deck gets standard widescreen slides and a 4:3 one standard slides, while other pages keep their own shape (or you can pick 16:9 or 4:3 and the pages are fitted in). Web links in the PDF still work when you present, and the speaker notes can hold each page’s text. Everything runs in your browser, so confidential decks are never uploaded.

How to use PDF to PowerPoint

  1. Tap “Choose a PDF” or drop one onto the box. Its pages open in a large page view with thumbnails.
  2. Pick what goes on each slide: “Picture + editable text”, “Picture only” or “Editable text only”.
  3. Optional: type a page range, and under More options choose the slide size, the picture quality and whether to add speaker notes.
  4. Press “Convert to PowerPoint” and watch the progress. Cancel stops it.
  5. Check the slide previews beside the page — dashed outlines show the editable text boxes, and the slide for the page on view is outlined — then press “Download .pptx”.
Example

A 24-page 16:9 pitch deck exported to PDF: Picture + editable text at Standard quality makes a 24-slide widescreen .pptx with every headline and bullet in an editable box over the original backgrounds and charts.

Features

  • Real .pptx files that open in PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides and LibreOffice Impress.
  • Three honest choices: picture + editable text, picture only, or editable text only.
  • Text boxes keep each line’s position, size, bold, italic and colour; lines that belong together share one box.
  • Text colour read from the page itself, so grey captions stay grey and white titles stay white.
  • Rotated labels become rotated text boxes.
  • Slide size from the PDF (16:9, 4:3 or the page’s own shape), or fitted to 16:9 or 4:3.
  • Picture quality from 96 to 300 dpi.
  • Web links still clickable in slideshow mode.
  • Optional speaker notes holding each page’s text in reading order.
  • Page ranges, live slide previews, no upload, sign-up or watermark.

Tips and good to know

  • Fonts: a text box asks for the PDF’s font by name when it is a common one (Arial, Calibri, Times New Roman and so on) and a close standard font otherwise. If a line runs longer than before, shrink its box’s text a point.
  • Scanned PDFs are pictures of paper, so there is no text to lift off. Run them through PDF OCR first, or use Picture only.
  • Text drawn as shapes (common in logos and some design exports) can’t be told apart from drawings, so it stays in the picture rather than appearing twice.
  • Higher picture quality makes sharper slides on big screens but bigger files. Standard suits most projectors.
  • Animations, transitions, videos and embedded charts from the original deck can’t come back: a PDF never stored them.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The pages are read, drawn and turned into slides in your browser, on your device. The file is never sent anywhere.

Is it free? Are there limits?

It’s free, with no sign-up and no watermark. Long PDFs work; they take a little longer, and very large pages are drawn slightly smaller so your browser has enough memory.

Can I edit the text in PowerPoint?

Yes, with “Picture + editable text” or “Editable text only”. Each line is a paragraph in a text box placed where the line was. With “Picture only” the slides are pictures and the words can’t be edited.

Will the slides look exactly like my PDF?

“Picture only” looks exactly the same. With editable text, the backgrounds and pictures are exact, but the words are drawn by PowerPoint in the fonts on your computer, so spacing can differ slightly when the PDF used a font you don’t have.

Does it work with Keynote and Google Slides?

The file is a standard .pptx, the format Keynote opens and Google Slides imports from Google Drive, so you can carry on in either.

Does it work on a phone or offline?

Yes, it works on phones and tablets. Once your PDF is open, converting needs no connection, because nothing is sent anywhere.

Why is some text still part of the picture?

Some PDFs draw letters as shapes or as tiny pictures, for example scanned pages and outlined logos. That text can’t be lifted off cleanly, so it is left in the picture instead of appearing twice.
