About this tool

Case Converter changes the capital letters in any text without retyping it. Paste a heading typed with Caps Lock on, a list of names in random capitals or a sentence you want as a variable name, choose one of thirteen styles, and the result appears straight away underneath, ready to copy.

Writers and students get the everyday styles: UPPER CASE, lower case, Sentence case and a proper Title Case that follows the AP and Chicago habit of keeping short words such as “of”, “the” and “and” in lower case unless they start or end the title. Developers get camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, CONSTANT_CASE and dot.case, which split words at spaces, punctuation and existing capitals, so “XMLHttpRequest” becomes xml_http_request.

It is careful with languages other than English. Accented letters keep their accents, the German ß becomes SS in capitals, Greek gets its final ς, and a Turkish or Azerbaijani setting gives the dotted İ and dotless ı those languages need. Everything happens in your browser: the text is never uploaded and nothing is stored.

How to use Case Converter

  1. Type or paste into “Your text”, or press “Paste” to bring in what you last copied.
  2. Under “Change to”, tap a style. Each button is written in its own style, so you can see what you will get.
  3. Tick “Remove extra spaces” or “Remove line breaks (keeps paragraphs)” to tidy text copied from a PDF or email.
  4. Read the result in the bottom box. It updates on every keystroke and shows its character count.
  5. Press “Copy”, or “Use as my text” to keep editing the result. “Undo” brings your original back.
Example

“the lord of the rings: the return of the king” in Title Case becomes “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”. “the return of the king” in snake_case is “the_return_of_the_king”, and in camelCase “theReturnOfTheKing”.

Features

  • Thirteen styles: UPPER CASE, lower case, Sentence case, Title Case, Capitalised Each Word, aLtErNaTiNg, iNVERSE cASE, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, CONSTANT_CASE and dot.case.
  • Title Case with small-word rules: articles, short conjunctions and short prepositions stay lower case, except as the first or last word or after a colon.
  • Sentence case that capitalises the start of every sentence and line and fixes a lone “i” to “I”, including I’m, I’ll, I’ve and I’d.
  • An option to keep words like iPhone, NASA and McDonald exactly as typed in Sentence and Title Case.
  • Code styles that understand existing camelCase and acronyms, and can remove accents (é → e) for safe file names and variable names.
  • Letter rules for Turkish and Azerbaijani (i ↔ İ, ı ↔ I) and Dutch (ijsland → IJsland), on top of the standard Unicode rules for every alphabet with capitals.
  • Line breaks are kept: every line is converted on its own, so a list stays a list.
  • Clean-up options for extra spaces and broken lines, applied before the conversion.

Tips and good to know

  • Title Case can’t know every proper noun. “The Return of the King” is right, but a name like “van Gogh” may need a manual touch afterwards.
  • If your whole text is in capitals, “Keep words like iPhone and NASA” has nothing to go on, so every word is converted. Turn it off when you want acronyms changed too.
  • Convert a column of names or headings in one go: paste them on separate lines and each line is handled separately.
  • For a web address slug, use kebab-case with “Remove accents” ticked: “Crème Brûlée Recipe” becomes creme-brulee-recipe.
  • aLtErNaTiNg and iNVERSE cASE are for fun posts and memes. Screen readers read them normally, but they are hard on the eye in long text.

Frequently asked questions

Is my text uploaded or saved?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser. Your text is not sent to AroraTools or anyone else, and it is gone when you close the tab.

Is it free? Is there a length limit?

It is free with no sign-up and no length limit set by the tool. Very long texts, such as a whole book, may take a moment on an older phone.

Does it work on iPhone, Android and offline?

Yes, in Safari, Chrome and Firefox. You need the internet to open the page, but after that the conversion keeps working without a connection. On iPhone, “Paste” asks your permission to read the clipboard; you can also paste into the box as usual.

What is the difference between Title Case and Capitalised Each Word?

Title Case follows headline style and leaves short words such as “of”, “the”, “and” and “in” in lower case unless they start or end the title. Capitalised Each Word puts a capital on every single word.

What are camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case?

They are ways of writing several words without spaces, used for names in code and web addresses. camelCase joins words with a capital on each new word (myFileName), snake_case uses underscores (my_file_name) and kebab-case uses hyphens (my-file-name).

Why does Turkish need its own setting?

Turkish has two letter i’s. Dotted i becomes İ in capitals and dotless ı becomes I, so standard rules turn “istanbul” into “ISTANBUL” when it should be “İSTANBUL”. The Turkish and Azerbaijani settings use the correct pairs.
