About this tool
This payroll calculator is built for small business owners, bookkeepers and anyone checking a payslip. Choose the country, how often you pay and the pay period end date, then enter each employee’s yearly salary or hourly rate. For every pay you see the gross amount, the employee’s tax and deductions, the net pay that lands in their account, and the employer costs on top.
It covers Australia for 2026–27 (PAYG income tax, Medicare levy, HELP and the 12% super guarantee), the UK for 2026 to 2027 (Income Tax including Scottish bands, employee and employer National Insurance at 15% over £5,000, student loans and workplace pension), the US for 2026 (federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare and FUTA), India for 2026-27 (new regime TDS, cess and PF on both sides) and New Zealand for 2026–27 (PAYE, ACC, KiwiSaver at 3.5% and ESCT). Each country shows its tax year, a “rates as of” date and links to the official pages used.
Add as many employees as you like to see the whole pay run in one table with totals, export it to CSV for your spreadsheet, and download a clean one-page payslip PDF for anyone. Everything stays in your browser: the employee list is kept on this device only, and nothing is uploaded.
How to use Payroll Calculator
- Under Pay run, choose the Country, the pay period end date and how often you pay: Weekly, Fortnightly or Monthly.
- Under Employee details, type the name and the pay before tax, as a year or an hour (with hours a week), and tick any options such as a student loan.
- Read “This pay for …”: the net pay, both tables and the ring chart of where the total cost goes.
- Press Add employee for each extra person; tap a name in All employees to edit it, or the bin to remove it.
- Press Download payslip (PDF) for the selected employee, or Download CSV for the whole pay run.
In the UK, an employee on £30,000 paid monthly has £2,500 gross, £290.50 Income Tax and £116.20 National Insurance, so net pay is £2,093.30. The employer adds £312.50 National Insurance and £59.40 minimum pension, so the pay costs the business £2,871.90.

Tips and good to know
- Per-pay amounts are the yearly figures spread evenly. Where a yearly cap applies, such as US Social Security or FUTA, a real payroll reaches it partway through the year instead.
- Australian figures leave out the $1,000 instant deduction, because it is claimed at tax time and doesn’t change what you withhold.
- UK employer NI is shown before the Employment Allowance, which can take up to £10,500 off the year’s bill if your business qualifies.
- State payroll tax, US state unemployment tax, ACC work levies and workers’ compensation depend on where and what you trade, so add them yourself.
- Always check a pay run against your payroll software or tax authority before paying staff.
Frequently asked questions
Is any employee data uploaded?
No. The maths and the payslip PDF are made in your browser. The employee list is saved only in this browser on this device, so it is still there next time, and it is never sent anywhere.
Is it free? Are there any limits?
Yes, it is free with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on employees or payslips.
Does it work on a phone, iPhone or offline?
Yes. It works in Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android and desktop browsers. Once the page has loaded it keeps working without the internet.
Can I use it to run real payroll?
Use it to plan, check and estimate. It follows the official rates, but real payroll uses each tax authority’s pay-period tables and reporting such as Single Touch Payroll or RTI, which this tool doesn’t do. Small differences of cents are normal.
Why isn’t Canada included?
Canadian payroll needs provincial tax as well as federal, and those rules differ in every province. Rather than show a payslip that is wrong, we left Canada out of payroll. The salary converter shows Canadian federal take-home pay.
Which employer costs are included?
The ones set nationally: Australian super guarantee, UK employer National Insurance and minimum pension, US employer Social Security, Medicare and FUTA, Indian employer PF and New Zealand employer KiwiSaver. Costs that depend on your state, industry or insurer are listed as not included.
