About this tool

Bank statements, invoices, price lists and reports often arrive as PDFs, and copying their tables into a spreadsheet by hand is slow and error-prone. This tool finds the table on each page and turns it into rows and columns you can sort, filter and add up in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.

Every line of text becomes a row, and the columns are found from the vertical bands of empty space that run down through the rows — so left-aligned names, right-aligned amounts and centred codes all land in the right place. You see each page’s table before you download. If two columns should be one (a first and last name, say), press Merge; if one column holds two things, press Split and it is cut at its widest gap. Undo column changes puts the page back as it was found.

Amounts such as 1,250.00, £45.50 or (120.00) become real numbers Excel can add up, shown the same way they looked in the PDF; codes with leading zeros stay as text. Save one sheet per page, or every page stacked in one sheet with a repeated header row kept only once — handy for a 12-page statement. CSV is there too. The PDF is read in your browser and never uploaded.

How to use PDF to Excel

  1. Tap “Choose a PDF” or drop one onto the box. Each page is read and its table appears below.
  2. Use the page picker or the ‹ › buttons to check each page. Press Merge → or Split above a column to fix it.
  3. Choose “One sheet per page” or “All pages in one sheet”, and type a page range if you only need some pages.
  4. Optional: tick “Skip lines outside the table” to leave out titles and notes, or untick “Turn amounts into real numbers” to keep the text exactly.
  5. Press “Download .xlsx”, or “Download .csv” for a plain comma-separated file.
Example

A 3-page card statement with Date, Description and Amount columns: choose All pages in one sheet and tick Skip lines outside the table, and the download is one sheet of transactions with a single header row and amounts ready for a SUM.

Features

  • Column detection from the gaps between text, which handles left, right and centre alignment.
  • Live table preview for every page, with row and column counts.
  • Merge → and Split buttons on every column, plus Undo column changes per page.
  • One sheet per page, or all pages stacked in one sheet with repeated headers removed.
  • Amounts with commas, currency signs or brackets become real numbers, displayed as in the PDF.
  • The header row is spotted, made bold and frozen at the top of the sheet.
  • Columns sized to fit their contents.
  • CSV download with UTF-8 marking so £, € and accents open correctly in Excel.
  • Page range, and an option to skip lines that aren’t part of the table.
  • Scanned pages are flagged with a link to PDF OCR. No upload, sign-up or limits.

Tips and good to know

  • Works best on PDFs made by software (exported statements, invoices, reports). Scanned pages have no text; run them through PDF OCR first.
  • If a long description wraps onto a second line in the PDF, it becomes its own row; merge those rows in Excel afterwards, or use the row numbers in the preview to find them.
  • Columns that sit very close together may be read as one. Press Split on that column to cut it at its gap.
  • Dates are kept as text exactly as printed, so nothing is turned the wrong way round between day-first and month-first formats.
  • For a plain copy of all the text instead of a table, use PDF to Text.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. The PDF is read by your own browser and the spreadsheet is built on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, which matters for statements and invoices.

Is it free? Are there limits?

Yes, it is free with no sign-up, no watermark and no page limit. The preview shows the first 300 rows of a page; every row goes into the download.

Does it work on a phone or offline?

Yes. It works in Safari and Chrome on iPhone and Android — scroll the table sideways to see every column. Once the page has loaded, it needs no internet connection.

Why are two columns joined together, or one split in the wrong place?

Columns are found from the empty space between them. When the gap is very small, or a title runs across the table, the guess can be off. Use Merge → and Split above the columns to fix it, or Undo column changes to start again.

Will the numbers add up in Excel?

Yes, with “Turn amounts into real numbers” ticked. Thousands commas, currency signs and brackets for negatives are understood, and the cells are formatted to look as they did in the PDF.

Why does a page say there is no text?

That page is a picture — a scan or a photo — so there are no letters to read. PDF OCR can add real text to it, and then this tool can find the table.
