About this tool

Fill PDF Form lets you complete a form without printing it. Open the PDF and the tool finds every fill-in box the form’s designer built in: text lines, address boxes, tick boxes, radio buttons, drop-down menus and multi-choice lists. Real inputs sit exactly over each box on the page, and the same fields appear as a tidy list beside it, labelled with the form’s own questions where it has them. On a phone the list is the easy way in; on a computer, Tab moves through the form in reading order.

Plenty of forms have no fill-in boxes at all: scanned paper forms, or ones made for printing. For those, switch to Add text, Tick, Cross or Dot and click anywhere on the page to place your answer, then drag, resize or delete it. You can mix both on any form, for the box the designer forgot.

When you save, the answers are written into the PDF’s own form and their look is redrawn, so they show in Preview, Chrome, Acrobat and phone viewers alike. Tick Flatten to lock everything into the page. The tool then reads the saved file back and checks every answer is there. Your form never leaves your device.

How to use Fill PDF Form

  1. Tap “Choose a PDF” and pick your form. The tool tells you how many fill-in fields it found.
  2. Type into the boxes on the page, or switch to “As a list” and fill the fields there. “Next empty field” jumps to the next one still blank, required ones first.
  3. For a form without boxes (or anything extra), pick “Add text”, “Tick”, “Cross” or “Dot” and click the page where it should go. Drag the handle to move it; A− and A+ change its size.
  4. Tick “Flatten” if nobody should be able to change the answers afterwards.
  5. Press “Save filled PDF”, read the check line, then press “Download filled PDF”.
Example

A 3-page membership form with 12 fields: type your name and email, tick “I agree”, choose “Plus” and pick two interests from the list. Save, and the result line reads “Checked: all 10 answers read back from the saved file”.

Features

  • Fills every common field type: one-line and multi-line text, tick boxes, radio groups, drop-downs, editable drop-downs and multi-choice lists.
  • Inputs laid exactly over the form’s boxes, plus a list of every field grouped by page, kept in step as you type.
  • Required fields marked with a star, locked fields left alone, maximum lengths respected, and boxes split into one letter per square.
  • Type anywhere: text, ticks, crosses and dots on forms with no fill-in fields, with drag to move, arrow-key nudging, resizing and delete.
  • Answers redrawn into the file so they show in every reader, not only the ones that draw forms themselves.
  • Optional flattening, which turns the answers into ordinary page content that can’t be edited.
  • Letters outside Western European alphabets (Greek, Cyrillic, Chinese, Hindi and more) saved as sharp pictures of the text where the standard PDF font can’t write them.
  • Reads the saved file back and confirms each answer, or warns you if one didn’t stick.

Tips and good to know

  • If a box on the page looks too small to type in on a phone, use “As a list”: it fills the very same fields.
  • Keep the form fillable (Flatten off) if someone else still has to add to it. Flatten the final copy before you email it.
  • Text typed with “Add text” in English and other Western European languages is real text in the saved PDF, so it can be selected and searched. Other alphabets are placed as sharp pictures of the text.
  • A form that asks for a signature needs Sign PDF next: use the “Sign it” card after saving to carry the filled form straight across.
  • Password-protected PDFs can’t be changed. Remove the password with Unlock PDF first (you’ll need to know it).
  • A few forms built with Adobe LiveCycle (XFA) only show their fields in Acrobat. If no fields appear, use Add text instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. Your form is opened, filled and saved by your browser on your own device. Nothing about it, or your answers, is sent to AroraTools or anyone else.

Is it free? Are there any limits?

Yes, it is free with no sign-up and no watermark. There is no page or field limit; very long forms simply take a little longer to draw.

Does it work on iPhone, Android and offline?

Yes. On a phone the field list is the easiest way to fill a form, and tapping a field’s page button shows it on the page. The page needs the internet to load, then the filling happens on your phone.

Why can’t other people see my answers in some PDF readers?

Some tools only store the answers and leave each reader to draw them, and simple readers don’t. This tool redraws every answer into the file as it saves, so they show in Preview, Chrome, Acrobat and phone viewers.

What does “Flatten” do?

It turns the filled-in boxes into ordinary page content. The answers look the same, but nobody can change them. Keep an unflattened copy if you might edit it: opened here again, its answers come back in the fields.

Can I fill in a scanned paper form?

Yes. A scan has no fill-in boxes, so the tool opens in Add text mode: click where each answer goes and type, and use Tick, Cross or Dot for check boxes.
