    About this tool

Border & Rounded Corners puts a picture on a background and dresses it up: space around it (padding), a coloured border, rounded corners and a soft drop shadow. It is the quick way to make screenshots look tidy in a blog post, give product shots a matching frame, turn a photo into an instant-photo print with a deep bottom edge, or round the corners of an avatar.

It also solves the Instagram problem. Choose “Square 1:1” or “Portrait 4:5” under Shape and the picture is padded out to that shape instead of being cropped, so nothing gets cut off. Other shapes include a 9:16 story, 16:9 and any custom ratio you type.

Sizes can be in pixels, or in a percentage of each picture’s shorter side, which is the default. With percentages, a batch of mixed sizes gets frames that look the same on every image. Everything is drawn by your own browser: the pictures are not uploaded anywhere, and there is no sign-up or watermark.

How to use Border & Rounded Corners

    1. Press “Choose files”, drag pictures onto the box, or paste one. You can add up to 50.
    2. Tap a quick style such as “Soft card”, “Instant photo” or “Instagram square”, or set Padding, Border, Corners and Shadow yourself. The preview updates as you type.
    3. Under Background, pick a colour, or “See-through” for a transparent background.
    4. Optional: choose a Shape to pad every picture to a fixed ratio, and change “Save as”.
    5. Press “Add border” (or “Add border to 8 images”), then download each picture or all of them as one ZIP.
    Example

A 1080 × 1350 portrait with “Instagram square” becomes a 1458 × 1458 square: the photo centred on white with a little space and a faint shadow, ready to post without cropping.

    Features

    • Padding equal on all sides or set per side (top, right, bottom, left).
    • Border with any width and colour, drawn as a ring so see-through parts of a picture stay see-through.
    • Rounded corners from a gentle curve to a full circle or pill shape; the picture and border curve together.
    • Drop shadow with its own offset across and down, blur, colour and strength. The padding grows automatically where needed so the shadow is never cut off.
    • Background in any colour, or see-through (saved as PNG, because JPG can’t hold transparency).
    • Pad to a shape: square 1:1, portrait 4:5, story 9:16, landscape 1.91:1, 16:9, 3:2 or a custom ratio.
    • Five quick styles, plus sizes in pixels or as a percentage of the shorter side so mixed batches match.
    • Batch of up to 50 images with a live preview of any picture you tap; download one by one or as a ZIP.

    Tips and good to know

    • For a crisp look on social media, use a light background, a little padding and a soft shadow with low strength: around 25–35% is plenty.
    • For a round profile picture, crop it square first, then set the corner rounding to 50% with no padding and a see-through background.
    • When you switch between pixels and percent, the numbers are converted for the picture in the preview, so the frame doesn’t jump.
    • With “Same as original”, JPG stays JPG and PNG stays PNG; any see-through background switches the file to PNG.
    • Big frames add pixels. If the result needs to be under a size limit, run it through Compress Image afterwards.

    Frequently asked questions

    Are my pictures uploaded?

No. The frame is drawn by your browser on your own device, and the pictures never leave it.

Is it free? Is there a limit?

It is free, with no account and no watermark. Each batch takes up to 50 pictures, and you can run as many batches as you like.

Does it work on my phone or offline?

Yes, it works in modern browsers on iPhone, Android and computers. You need a connection to open the page; after that the pictures are processed on the device itself.

How do I make a photo square for Instagram without cropping it?

Choose “Square 1:1 (Instagram post)” under Shape, or tap the “Instagram square” quick style. The picture is centred and the empty space is filled with your background colour.

Can I keep the background transparent?

Yes. Pick “See-through” under Background. The result is saved as a PNG so the transparent corners and padding survive.

Why did my picture get a bit bigger than the padding I set?

A shadow needs room to fade out. If the padding is smaller than the shadow’s blur, the tool adds just enough space on that side, and a note under the settings tells you.
