About this tool
Instagram posts can be square, landscape or portrait, and the tallest it allows in the feed is 4:5, which it recommends at 1080 × 1350 pixels. A tall post fills more of the screen as people scroll than a square or landscape one. Upload a photo of any other shape and Instagram crops it for you, often cutting off a head or a product label.
This page opens Crop Image already set to “Instagram Post, portrait · 1080 × 1350”. The crop box is locked to 4:5, so you only decide what goes inside it, and the result is saved at exactly 1080 by 1350 pixels as a JPG. You can still change anything: switch to a square post, a Story size, a free shape or another format.
It handles a whole carousel too. Add up to 50 photos, set the crop on one, and the others get the same shape, centred or in the same spot. Your photos are cropped in your browser and never leave your phone or computer.
How to use Instagram Portrait Size (1080×1350)
- Tap “Choose images” or drop one or more photos on the box.
- The line above the tool confirms the job, and “Social size” already reads “Instagram Post, portrait · 1080 × 1350”.
- Drag the 4:5 box to the part you want, or pull its corners to take in more. Use “Straighten” if the horizon is tilted.
- With several photos, choose “Centred” or “Same spot” for the others, then press “Crop image” (or “Crop 5 images”).
- Press “Download image”. Several photos come as one ZIP file.
A 4032 × 3024 landscape phone photo becomes a 1080 × 1350 portrait: you pick a 2419 × 3024 slice around the subject and it is scaled down to the exact size.
Features
- Opens set to Instagram’s portrait post: a locked 4:5 crop saved at exactly 1080 × 1350 pixels.
- Saves as JPG at high quality, the format Instagram handles best.
- Crop several photos at once for a carousel, all the same shape.
- Straighten by up to 45° either way, with thirds or grid guides.
- A note warns you when your crop is smaller than 1080 × 1350, so the photo would be enlarged and look soft.
- Every other Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest and TikTok size is one tap away in the same list.
Tips and good to know
- Keep faces and text away from the very top and bottom: Instagram’s profile grid shows posts as slightly shorter previews and trims those edges.
- All photos in one carousel take the shape of the first, so crop every slide to 4:5 before posting.
- Start from the original photo, not a screenshot, so the crop has enough pixels to stay sharp.
- Cropped files leave out hidden camera details such as location, which is good for privacy.
Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. The cropping is done by your browser on your own device. Your photos are never sent to AroraTools or anyone else.
Is it free? Are there limits?
It is free, with no sign-up and no watermark. You can crop up to 50 photos in one go.
Does it work on my phone, and offline?
Yes, in Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge on iPhone and Android, with touch dragging. The page needs the internet to open; the cropping happens on your device.
What is the best size for an Instagram portrait post?
1080 × 1350 pixels, a 4:5 shape, as Instagram recommends it. Sizes on this site were checked in October 2026; networks change them now and then.
Can I make the photo bigger than it is?
The tool will enlarge a small crop to 1080 × 1350, but it will look soft. A note tells you when this would happen so you can choose a larger area or a bigger photo.
Can I crop for Stories or a square post instead?
Yes. Open the “Social size” list and pick Story or Reel (1080 × 1920) or a square post (1080 × 1080). The page simply starts on the portrait post.
