About this tool
Online Whiteboard gives you a big, smooth drawing board in a browser tab. Sketch with a pen that thins and thickens like real ink, mark things up with a see-through highlighter, add lines, arrows, boxes and circles, type text, and stick coloured notes anywhere. The board keeps going in every direction.
Everything you add stays an object you can change later. Pick up a note and move it, drag a box round a group of shapes, recolour, duplicate or delete them. Undo goes back up to 200 steps, and the board saves itself in your browser, so closing the tab by accident doesn’t lose your work.
It suits teachers, students, teams sketching a screen or floor plan, and anyone who thinks better with a pen. Present mode fills the screen for a lesson or a call. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account.
How to use Online Whiteboard
- Pick a tool from the top row: Pen, Highlight, Shapes, Text or Note. Choose a colour and size in the row just below it.
- Draw on the board with a mouse, finger or stylus. On a phone, one finger draws and two fingers move and zoom.
- Press Select to pick things up: tap one item, or drag a box round several, then drag to move them, or press Duplicate or Delete.
- Under the board, choose “Whole drawing” or “Visible area”, then press Save PNG or Save PDF. Present fills the screen; press Esc to leave.
A teacher draws a triangle with Shapes, labels the sides with Text and adds a yellow note saying “a² + b² = c²”. Save PDF makes a one-page handout shaped to the drawing.
Features
- Pen with natural line weight: it follows a stylus’s pressure (such as Apple Pencil) where the browser reports it, otherwise the speed of a mouse or finger.
- Highlighter with a wide, see-through stroke that never darkens where it crosses itself.
- Shapes: line, arrow, rectangle and ellipse, with an optional soft fill. Hold Shift for straight 15° angles, perfect squares and circles.
- Text you can edit again later, in four sizes, and sticky notes in five colours whose writing shrinks to fit.
- Select, move, recolour, duplicate and delete, with a drag-box for many items and arrow keys to nudge.
- Endless board with smooth zoom from 10% to 800%: pinch, Ctrl/⌘ + scroll, the zoom buttons, or “fit” to show everything.
- Grid, dots or plain background, on a white or dark board. The plain black ink turns white on the dark board.
- Save PNG (whole drawing at twice the size, or the visible area at your screen’s sharpness) and Save PDF (one page sized to the drawing).
- Keyboard shortcuts: V select, H move, P pen, M highlighter, E eraser, L line, A arrow, R rectangle, O ellipse, T text, N note, Delete, Ctrl/⌘ + Z, Ctrl/⌘ + D.
Tips and good to know
- The eraser removes whole objects (a whole pen line, shape or note), not just the part it touches. If you remove too much, Undo brings it straight back.
- Double-tap a text or a note with Select to change its words. With the Text or Note tool on, a single tap on one opens it too.
- The board is saved only in this browser on this device, and clearing your browsing data deletes it. Save a PNG or PDF of anything you want to keep or share.
- A PDF holds a sharp picture of the board, so its text can’t be selected or searched.
- Rest your hand on a tablet while writing with a stylus: touches are ignored while the pen is in use, and two fingers never draw.
Frequently asked questions
Is my drawing uploaded or shared?
No. The whiteboard runs entirely in your browser. Your drawing is kept in this browser’s own storage on your device and is never sent to AroraTools or anyone else. Files you save go straight to your downloads.
Is it free? Are there limits?
It is free with no sign-up and no watermark. Browsers give each site only a few megabytes of storage, so if a huge board no longer fits, the line under the board says it was not saved. Save a PNG or PDF then.
Does it work on iPhone, iPad, Android and offline?
Yes, with a finger or a stylus. You need the internet to open the page; after that, drawing, autosave and PNG saving work offline. The PDF maker is fetched the first time you save a PDF. On iPhone, Present fills the browser window instead of the whole screen.
Can several people draw on the same board?
No. It is a personal board on your own device, with no live sharing. To show it, use Present mode while sharing your screen on a call, or send a saved PNG or PDF.
How do I get my board back after closing the tab?
Just open this page again in the same browser on the same device. The board reopens where you left it. A private window forgets it when closed.
What is the difference between “Whole drawing” and “Visible area”?
Whole drawing frames everything on the board with a small margin, however far you have panned. Visible area saves exactly what is on your screen at the current zoom.
Does the eraser rub out part of a line?
No. It is an object eraser: anything it touches is removed whole, so you never leave broken scraps behind. To change a line, undo it or erase it and draw it again.
