About this tool
Remove Blank Pages looks at every page of a PDF and measures how much ink is on it. Pages with nothing on them are marked for removal straight away, so a 60-page double-sided scan with 20 empty backs is cleaned up in seconds. Every page shows its ink as a percentage, so you can see why it was marked.
Scans are rarely pure white, so the check is built for them. The paper colour is measured from each page, so grey or yellowed paper still counts as paper. Lone specks of dust are ignored, and you can tell it to skip the page edges, where scanners leave shadows and punch holes show. Pages with only a page number, header or footer get their own “Nearly blank” marker instead of being removed silently, and a switch removes them too if you want.
You stay in charge: tap any page to keep it or remove it before saving. The new PDF is built from copies of the pages you keep, exactly as they were, and your original file is not changed. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
How to use Remove Blank Pages
- Tap “Choose a PDF” and pick your scan. Each page is checked as it appears, and blank ones are marked straight away.
- Move the Sensitivity slider towards Relaxed if dusty blank pages are missed, or towards Strict if pages with faint content get marked.
- Pick how much of the page edges to ignore, and tick “Also remove nearly blank pages” if pages with only a page number should go too.
- Tap any page to change its mark. “Undo my changes” puts every page back to what the check decided.
- Press the “Remove … pages” button (it shows how many), then “Download PDF”.
A scanned 12-page contract fed through a duplex scanner gives 24 pages, with 11 blank backs and one back that only shows a faint page number. The 11 empty ones are marked Blank, the page number one is marked Nearly blank and kept, and the saved file has 13 pages.

- Separate “Nearly blank” marker for pages with only a page number, header or footer.
- Eight sensitivity steps, from strict to relaxed, with the exact limit shown.
- Tap any page to keep or remove it; your choices survive slider changes.
- Kept pages are copied unchanged, so text, links and quality stay as they were.
- Runs in your browser with no upload, sign-up or watermark.
Tips and good to know
- A blank page usually reads 0% or a few thousandths of a percent; a page of text reads several percent.
- If a page that looks blank isn’t marked, look at its ink figure and move the slider just past it.
- A page with print showing through from the other side can read as content: move the slider towards Relaxed or tap it by hand.
- Keep the original until you have checked the new file, especially for contracts and forms.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The pages are drawn, measured and saved by your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Is it free? Is there a page limit?
Yes, it is free with no sign-up, and there is no page limit. Checking takes a moment per page, so a 300-page scan takes a little while.
Does it work on iPhone, Android and offline?
Yes, in Safari, Chrome and other modern browsers. The page needs the internet to open, but the checking and saving happen on your phone.
How does it decide a page is blank?
It draws each page small, works out the paper colour, and counts pixels clearly darker than the paper, skipping lone specks and the edges you chose. Pages at or under the sensitivity limit are marked Blank.
What does “Nearly blank” mean?
The page has a little ink, all of it in the top or bottom strip, which usually means only a page number, header or footer. These are kept unless you tick “Also remove nearly blank pages” or tap them.
Will the pages I keep lose quality?
No. Kept pages are copied into the new file exactly as they were, without being redrawn or compressed.
