About this tool
Crop PDF cuts the edges off PDF pages. Drag a frame over the page preview, type exact margins in millimetres, or press “Auto-trim white margins” and let the tool find where the content starts and stops on each page.
It is handy for scanned books with wide margins, slides exported with big empty margins, academic papers you want to read larger on a tablet or e-reader, receipts scanned on a full A4 sheet, and labels or tickets that need cutting to size before printing. You can crop every page, only odd or only even pages (useful for scanned books, where left and right pages have different margins), or a list of pages you type in.
Nothing is redrawn. The tool changes the page’s visible area, its MediaBox and CropBox, so text stays sharp and selectable and the file stays about the same size. Your PDF is cropped inside your own browser and never uploaded, and there is no watermark or sign-up.
How to use Crop PDF
- Tap “Choose a PDF” and pick your file. The first page opens with a crop frame round it.
- Drag the frame’s corners or edges, drag inside it to move it, or drag outside it to draw a new one. Or type amounts in Top, Bottom, Left and Right (mm).
- For automatic trimming, set “Space to leave round the content” and press “Auto-trim white margins”.
- Under “Pages to crop” choose All, Odd, Even or Choose (then type pages such as 1-3, 5, 8-).
- Check the new size under the margins, press “Crop and save”, then “Download cropped PDF”.
A 40-page lecture handout with 30 mm of white space round every slide: choose All, set 3 mm of space and press “Auto-trim white margins”. Each page is trimmed to its own slide, so it fills a tablet screen.
Features
- Drag-to-crop frame with eight handles, plus arrow-key nudging for fine control.
- Exact margins in millimetres for each side, with the new page size shown as you go.
- Auto-trim finds the content of every chosen page and trims each page to fit its own content.
- Crop all pages, odd pages, even pages, or a typed list such as 2-5, 9.
- Works correctly on pages that are turned sideways, and on mixed page sizes.
- Sets both the MediaBox (sheet size) and CropBox (visible area), so every reader and printer agrees on the new size.
- No quality loss: text stays selectable and pictures aren’t re-saved.
- Runs in your browser, so the PDF is never uploaded.
Tips and good to know
- With your own frame or margins, the same amount in millimetres is cut from every chosen page, even if pages differ in size.
- Auto-trim ignores pure white, so a faint grey scan border may count as content. Lower the space setting or adjust the frame afterwards.
- Moving the frame after auto-trim switches back to one frame for all chosen pages.
- Cropping hides the edges, it doesn’t erase them: the trimmed part is still in the file. To remove something for good, use Redact PDF.
- Blank pages are left as they are by auto-trim.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The pages are measured, previewed and cropped by your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to AroraTools or anyone else.
Is it free? Are there limits?
Yes, it is free with no sign-up or watermark, and there is no page limit. Auto-trim takes a moment per page, so very long files take a little longer.
Does it work on iPhone, Android and offline?
Yes. Drag the frame with your finger in Safari or Chrome. The page needs the internet to open, but the cropping happens on your phone.
Will cropping make my PDF blurry?
No. Only the page’s visible area changes. Nothing is redrawn or re-compressed, so text and pictures look exactly as before.
Can I crop only some pages?
Yes. Choose Odd, Even, or Choose and type page numbers like 1-3, 7. Pages you leave out aren’t touched.
Is the cut-off part deleted?
No, it is hidden. Every PDF crop works this way, and some editors can bring the edges back. If the edges hold private details, use Redact PDF instead.
