About this tool
Resize PDF Pages moves the pages of a PDF onto a different paper size. The classic job is a US Letter document that has to be printed or submitted on A4, or the other way round, but it handles A3, A5, B5, Legal, Tabloid and any custom size in millimetres or inches.
You choose how the content fits. “Scale to fit” shrinks or enlarges each page to fit the new paper, keeps its shape and centres it, with an optional white margin. “Fill and crop” enlarges the content until it covers the whole sheet with no white bands. “Paper only” keeps the content at exactly the same size and just changes the sheet round it, which is what you want for adding white space or trimming a little off. Orientation can follow each page, so landscape pages stay landscape, or be forced to portrait or landscape.
Nothing is turned into a picture. Each page’s own drawing instructions are scaled in one step, so text stays sharp and selectable, links still work and the file barely grows. It all happens in your browser: the PDF is never uploaded.
How to use Resize PDF Pages
- Tap “Choose a PDF” and pick your file. A Letter file starts with A4 selected, and an A4 file with Letter.
- Under “New paper size” pick A4, Letter, A3, A5, B5, Legal, Tabloid, or Custom and type a width and height.
- Choose the orientation (“Match each page”, Portrait or Landscape) and how the content fits: “Scale to fit”, “Fill and crop” or “Paper only”.
- Check the before and after pictures, where a dashed outline shows where each old page lands, then press “Resize PDF”.
- Press “Download PDF” to save the new file.
A 10-page US Letter report (216 × 279 mm) going to A4 (210 × 297 mm) with “Scale to fit”: each page is scaled to 97% so it fits the narrower width, then centred, leaving about 13 mm of white space at the top and at the bottom.
Features
- Seven standard paper sizes plus any custom size in millimetres or inches.
- Three fit modes: scale to fit, fill and crop, or change the paper only.
- Orientation per page, so mixed portrait and landscape documents come out right.
- Optional white margin, and a switch to stop small pages being blown up.
- Before and after thumbnails for every page, drawn to the same scale.
- Resize all pages or only the ones you type, such as 1-3, 8.
- Vector output: text stays selectable and links move with the content.
- Runs in your browser with no upload, sign-up or watermark.
Tips and good to know
- For printing on a different paper size, “Scale to fit” with a 5 mm margin keeps everything clear of the printer’s unprintable edge.
- “Fill and crop” suits slides and posters where white bands look wrong; check the edges in the preview first, because text near them can be cut.
- A page that is already the chosen size is left exactly as it was.
- To trim margins page by page rather than change the paper, use Crop PDF instead.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The resizing is done by your browser on your own device, and the file never leaves it.
Is it free? Is there a page limit?
Yes, it is free with no sign-up or watermark, and there is no page limit. Very large files are only limited by your device’s memory.
Does it work on iPhone, Android and offline?
Yes, in Safari, Chrome and other modern browsers. The page needs the internet to open, but the resizing itself happens on your phone.
Will the text still be selectable and sharp?
Yes. Pages are scaled as drawings, not turned into pictures, so text stays real text and prints crisply at any size.
How do I convert US Letter to A4?
Open the file, choose A4, keep “Match each page” and “Scale to fit”, then press Resize PDF. Each page is scaled to about 97% and centred on the A4 sheet.
What is the difference between the three fit modes?
Scale to fit keeps all the content visible. Fill and crop covers the whole sheet and cuts off what sticks out. Paper only keeps the content at its original size and only changes the sheet.
