About this tool

Every network wants a different shape: a 4:5 portrait for an Instagram post, a long thin strip for a LinkedIn background, a 16:9 thumbnail for YouTube, a tall 2:3 pin for Pinterest and a small circle for every profile picture. Social Media Image Resizer takes one photo and shows it in all 19 sizes side by side, so you can see at a glance which crops work and fix the ones that don’t.

Tap the main subject once and every size centres on it. Then drag inside any single preview to move the photo for that size only, or zoom in for a tighter crop. If cropping would cut off too much, switch to “Fit, blurred edges” to show the whole photo on a soft blurred copy of itself, or “Fit, plain colour” for clean bars in any colour. Dashed guides show where platforms cover or trim the picture: the circle on profile photos, the safe area on a YouTube channel banner, the strip phones show of a Facebook cover, and the parts of a story hidden behind buttons. The guides are never saved.

Your photo stays on your device: the resizing is done by your browser, and nothing is uploaded. Pick the sizes you need and save them one at a time or all together in a ZIP.

How to use Social Media Image Resizer

  1. Press “Choose a photo”, drop one in, or paste it with Ctrl+V or ⌘V.
  2. Under “Where’s the main subject?”, tap the face, product or logo you want kept in every crop.
  3. Choose what happens when the shape doesn’t match: Crop to fill, Fit with blurred edges, or Fit with a plain colour.
  4. Look over the previews. Drag inside one to reposition it, use its Zoom slider, or untick the sizes you don’t need (each platform has an All / Skip button).
  5. Press Save on a single card, or “Make images (ZIP)” and then “Download ZIP” for everything you ticked.
Example

A 4032 × 3024 holiday photo with the subject tapped left of centre: the LinkedIn background (1584 × 396) keeps the faces in its strip, the Instagram story (1080 × 1920) crops to the person, and the WhatsApp picture (640 × 640) shows them inside the circle guide. All 19 come out as JPGs in one ZIP, each at its exact size.

  • Three fill modes: crop to fill, fit on a blurred copy of the photo, or fit on any solid colour.
  • Safe-zone guides for profile circles, the YouTube banner safe area, Facebook cover on phones, X header edges, and story and TikTok buttons.
  • Save one size instantly, or a ZIP of every size you ticked, as JPG, PNG or WebP.
  • Opens JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, TIFF, GIF, BMP and SVG.

Tips and good to know

  • Sizes were checked on 15 October 2026. Cards marked “Common size” use the size most guides agree on, because the platform doesn’t publish one; the TikTok and X header guides are approximate.
  • For a YouTube channel banner, keep text and logos inside the inner dashed box. Computers show the wider strip, and TVs show the whole picture.
  • Profile pictures are cropped to a circle by every platform here, so keep faces in the middle and away from the corners.
  • Start from the largest photo you have: a small photo stretched to 2560 × 1440 looks soft.
  • JPG at the quality we use keeps the YouTube thumbnail well under its 2 MB phone upload limit for normal photos.
  • Need just one shape? The Instagram Portrait and YouTube Thumbnail pages are faster for a single size.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. Your browser opens, crops and saves the photo on your own device. It is never sent to AroraTools or any social network.

Is it free? Are there limits?

Yes, it is free with no account and no watermark. You can make all 19 sizes from one photo as often as you like; for another photo, press Another photo.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Pick a photo from your library, tap the subject, and drag inside a preview with your finger. On iPhone the ZIP or image goes to your Downloads folder in the Files app.

Are these the official sizes?

Where the platform publishes a size we use it, checked on 15 October 2026. Where it doesn’t, the card says “Common size” and we use the size most guides agree on. Platforms change their layouts, so we re-check the list every year.

Will my photo be stretched or squashed?

Never. The photo is always scaled evenly. When the shape differs, it is either cropped, or fitted whole with blurred or coloured edges, depending on the option you choose.

What are the dashed lines on some previews?

They are safe-zone guides showing where a platform covers or trims the picture, such as the circle on profile photos or the YouTube banner safe area. They only appear in the preview and are never saved in your files.

Can I get just one size?

Yes. Press Save on that card to download it straight away, or untick everything else and make a single image.
