About this tool

Waveform Image turns sound into a picture. Drop in a song, podcast episode, voice note or video and its waveform appears straight away, ready to style as bars, a mirrored reflection, a smooth line, dots or a circle of bars radiating outwards. Pick one of seven colour themes or your own colours, add a gradient, choose a background colour or leave it transparent, and set the bar width, gap and rounding to taste.

Sizes are ready for where the picture is going: square and portrait posts, stories and reels, a YouTube banner, an X or LinkedIn post, a slim strip for a website, or any custom size up to 4,000 pixels. Add a title, a subtitle and time labels in one of 18 fonts, show the whole recording or just one part, then download a PNG or a sharp, editable SVG.

For social media there is also an audiogram: a 15 to 60 second video of your design in which the waveform lights up as the sound plays, with a playhead and a running clock. Everything, including the video, is made in your browser.

How to use Waveform Image

  1. Press “Choose a file” or drop an audio or video file on the box. The preview appears.
  2. Under Look, pick a style, a Size and a colour theme, or set your own colours and background. Open “Bar shape and detail” for bar width, gap, rounding and margin.
  3. Optionally type a Title and Subtitle, choose a font, and tick “Time labels”. Choose “Part” to show only a stretch of the recording.
  4. Press Download PNG or Download SVG.
  5. For a video, set “Clip starts at” and a clip length under Audiogram video, press “Listen to the clip” to check it, then press “Make video” and download it.
Example

A podcaster picks “Square post”, the Sunset theme and the title “Episode 12”, then makes a 30-second audiogram from 4:10. The result is a 1080 × 1080 MP4 ready for Instagram, made in a few seconds on a laptop.

Features

  • Five styles: bars, mirrored bars with a reflection, line, dots and circle.
  • Seven colour themes, any wave colour, two-colour gradients across or down, and a coloured or transparent background.
  • Seven ready sizes for social posts, stories, banners and websites, plus custom sizes from 100 to 4,000 pixels.
  • Adjustable bar width, gap, rounding and margin; bars from peaks or average loudness, stretched to full height or true to level.
  • Title, subtitle and start and end time labels in 18 bundled fonts.
  • Show the whole recording or any part of it, chosen by time.
  • PNG download at full size, and SVG for crisp printing or editing in design software.
  • Audiogram videos of 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds with a played colour, playhead, clock and the sound, as MP4 or WebM.

Tips and good to know

  • “Average loudness” gives a more varied, natural shape for speech; “Peaks” suits music with sharp drums.
  • Untick “Stretch to full height” to compare quiet and loud recordings side by side at their true levels.
  • For a website header, choose “Website strip”, a transparent background and the SVG download.
  • SVG text uses the font if the viewing device has it, so for printing, export a PNG or convert the text to outlines in your design app.
  • Videos are kept to Full HD on the long side so they encode quickly; a YouTube banner design becomes a 1920 × 1080 video.

Frequently asked questions

Is my recording uploaded?

No. Your browser reads the sound and draws the picture and video on your own device. Nothing is sent to AroraTools or anyone else.

Is it free? Is there a watermark?

It is free, with no sign-up and no watermark. Pictures can be up to 4,000 pixels on each side, and audiograms up to 60 seconds long.

Does it work on a phone and offline?

Yes, in current Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge. You need a connection to open the page, then all the work happens on your phone. Making a video takes longer on older phones.

Can I use the sound from a video?

Yes. Drop an MP4, MOV or WebM file and the tool uses its sound track. The picture in the video is ignored.

What is an audiogram?

A short video for social media that shows a waveform moving in time with a clip of audio, so a podcast or song can be shared where only videos play.

Why did I get a WebM video instead of MP4?

The tool makes an MP4 when your browser can encode H.264 video and AAC sound. If it can’t, it makes a WebM, which plays in most browsers and apps. A transparent background becomes dark in a video.
